Old: "What's the right answer here?"
New: "Show me three approaches we could take, with the tradeoffs of each."
Old: "I don't want options. I want your recommendation."
New: "I want your recommendation AND the alternatives you considered. How did you get there?"

Learning happens everywhere, including on client work—the question is how we structure that learning to be safe and valuable.

Old: "Don't experiment on client deliverables."
New: "How can we test this AI application on client work with appropriate review and validation?"
Old: "We'll pilot AI on internal projects first."
New: "We'll use AI for first drafts with human review before anything client-facing, which lets us learn while maintaining quality."
Old: "This is too important to try something new."
New: "This is too important to not use every tool available. Let's use AI for analysis with expert validation."
Why this shift matters for AI: The only way to prove AI works is to use it on work that matters. But you need frameworks for safe experimentation—AI-generated first drafts with human refinement, parallel processes where AI and traditional methods are compared, staged rollouts with increasing responsibility. The mindset shift is from "never experiment on important work" to "here's how we experiment safely on important work."
