The gap between "we're piloting AI" and "AI is running our operations" has a name now. Cognizant is calling it the AI Factory, and on March 16th they launched it as a product.
Cognizant AI Factory is a multi-tenant, enterprise-grade AI infrastructure platform built on Dell Technologies hardware and NVIDIA's AI software stack. The pitch is direct: stop running disconnected proof-of-concepts and start operationalizing AI across the full enterprise lifecycle — from experimentation through deployment, governance, and day-to-day management — in a single managed environment.

Those figures come with the standard caveats around controlled testing conditions, and enterprise buyers should treat them as directional rather than contractual. But the underlying infrastructure story is worth taking seriously regardless of where the actual numbers land for any specific deployment.
The most technically interesting element of the announcement is Cognizant's proprietary Fractional GPU technology, built on NVIDIA's Multi-Instance GPU architecture. The capability allows multiple business units — or multiple clients in a shared environment — to run AI workloads simultaneously on isolated GPU "slices" within a unified platform.
This matters because GPU utilization has been one of the less-discussed inefficiencies in enterprise AI deployment.
